PARENTS AS PARTNERS

The “Parents as Partners” program is a series of parenting meetings and trainings that provides a bridge for dialogue between parents and their kids about critical teen issues from their perspective. Parents receive information and training about these issues from subject matter experts from the DEA, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, California National Guard and other prevention and treatment organizations and agencies in those defined areas and are provided strategies to help them and their kids with these issues.

Community Alliances for Drug Free Youth works with parents within a community to achieve its goal of reducing substance abuse in the targeted community by:

1) Increasing the number of parents as partners within schools and communities to strengthen drug-free norms;

2) Providing assistance, support, and resources as needed for the youth throughout the year; and

3) Increasing the number of healthy, drug-free (youth) role models for their peers.
