FORCES UNITED

Forces United is a unique initiative developed by Community Alliances for Drug Free Youth (CADFY) in partnership with the California National Guard (CNG) bringing military and their surrounding communities together with existing community based organizations and agencies to implement more effective community substance abuse prevention strategies.

With Forces United they now have a forum to discuss issues, share ideas, and develop strategies in a collaborative effort to address these concerns. The Forces United initiative further allows the partners to bring in outside resources from local and statewide Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and resources from local, state and federal law enforcement.

Forces United plans to participate in the building of partnerships, which bring together the U.S. Armed Forces, law enforcement, educational, social service, and community-based organizations to provide the community with the information and skills needed to raise children as productive citizens. Forces United will also educate, train, or otherwise prevent drug abuse among youth. Provide educational activities aimed to improve critical life and social skills, including decision-making, refusal skills, critical analysis, and systematic judgment abilities. This includes: classroom and/or small group sessions (all ages), parenting and family management classes, mentoring, tutoring and experiential learning programs. Forces United will, in addition, provide alternative activities that focus on substance abuse and violence prevention efforts, directed towards our youth free of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. This includes: community center events, athletic, recreational, and adventure activities, supporting community service and after school activities.
